About

Hi, and welcome to Bread and Spices. A few things about me: I’m a native Bostonian but have lived in New York City since 2006, with stints in France and Italy. I currently reside on the Upper West Side of Manhattan (aka, the NYC foodie desert) and consequently spend a lot of time venturing into other parts of the city in search of interesting culinary experiences. My favorite neighborhoods include Astoria and Jackson Heights (Queens) and Brighton Beach (Brooklyn).

I cook only marginally more than the average New Yorker (which is to say I mostly don’t), but I can also count the number of times I’ve ordered takeout on one hand. I love spicy food, have a serious sweet tooth, and know a ridiculous amount about cheese. (If I were being more literal, I probably would have called this blog “Pastry and Spices,” but honestly, “Bread and Spices” just had a better ring.) I have nothing against fancy restaurants, but I’m generally more partial to obscure holes in the wall. In short, if it’s good, I’ll probably eat it.

I’ve been a full-time author since 2015, but this blog is my first foray into food writing. I welcome your feedback and recommendations, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
